Moo cows Calf being looked after by cows

Our cows are kept in a way that is completely different from industrial farming. We keep the cows in small herds. When the calves are born we don't separate them from the mothers, choosing to share the milk and wean them off while keeping them together.

Kids milking a cow

We hand milk the cows and produce a handsome unpasteurised cheese - called Peasant Gold.

Cheeses maturing

The cheese is a golden yellow colour, with a unique creamy flavour, reminiscent of Gruyere.

Ploughing with oxen

We are also embarking on a new project to train a few working oxen, to help around the farm. Here is a photo of us learning to work oxen with the farmers at Bhaktivedanta Manor.

Ploughing with donkeys

Here we are Jyoti and Bee in La Prommatta, France trying to pick up some skills using donkeys to plough with modern market garden draught animal equipment.
